today we forgave
the sun for all its winter
& the months it shone
without reaching us

today the breeze slipped
into the dark space in
our sleeves & our chests
cracked in a slow thaw

today the light stretched
over my warming body
& I found fossils of your
old kisses on the sweep of
my hip.
